Are you between 8 and 13 years old? Fill your backpack with the wildest ideas and come to the Children's University of KU Leuven!

The Children's University at KU Leuven is quite different from elementary or middle school. You'll attend classes in a real auditorium, along with many other kids. An auditorium or lecture hall is a classroom at the university. It can accommodate up to 200, 500, or sometimes even 1000 students! Real professors will teach you something during an exciting lecture and answer all your questions! After that, you can roll up your sleeves and participate in one of the many workshops.

We must inform that the lectures at the Kids University are currently held only in Dutch. There are no English-language lectures available.

Lectures

Morning | Nature is healthy! | Professor Raf Aerts

Adventurers wanted!

Do you also feel wonderfully tired and happy after a walk in the woods or a day at the sea? Good news! This children's lecture explores the fascinating connection between nature, biodiversity and health. We don't just talk, we experiment. Get out your smartphone, because we have something exciting for you. Find out why nature is great and why it matters even in the city. Ready for the adventure?

Afternoon | Does noise come out of your ears too | Vanessa Cool

BOOM PAUKESLAG! Discover sound and silence!

You probably recognize the drumbeat of the girl next door practicing fanatically for her orchestra performance. But when does sound become music instead of just irritating noise? That is personal and depends on how our hearing works. Noise, the second biggest polluter after air pollution, turns out to be bad for our health. Engineers are working hard on solutions, such as egg cartons, to tame the noise monster. In this lecture, discover how sound works, and unravel the secrets of silence. So leave your earplugs at home for once and come listen to what our ears have to offer!
