
Lode Vermeersch
Lode Vermeersch is a senior research fellow at HIVA (Research Institute for Work and Society of the University of Leuven). Currently he is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Groningen. Over the last 15 years he has been involved in numerous research projects. Most of his research publications lie in the field of arts and cultural education, cultural theory and cultural policy, museum education, and literacy. He keeps a keen interest in all educational activities, both inside and outside formal schooling, designed for learning in, through and about visual arts and culture.
Vermeersch has a doctorate in educational sciences and a diploma in additional cultural studies. He has been working as a research expert at HIVA since 2007. His recent research has covered topics such as how teenagers respond to museums, and how to advance visual literacy of young people in art museums.
