She had obviously not met Gry Hasselbalch. “Data makes the world go round,” writes this independent advisor and policy shaper in the influential book “Data Ethics – The New Competitive Advantage” which she co-authored. “It is politics, it is culture, it is everyday life and it is business.”
With data making the earth spin, it’s no surprise that issues relating to the governance and ethics of emerging data technologies are so important. This is the focus area of Hasselbalch. She is co-founder of the politically independent ThinkDoTank DataEthics. Its purpose is to ensure the primacy of the human being in a world of data. She is also a member of the European Commission's High-Level Group on AI that developed the ethics guidelines and policy recommendations for Trustworthy AI in Europe. Previously she was a member of the Danish Expert Group on Data Ethics that was appointed to provide the Danish government with recommendations on data ethics issues in 2018. In addition to the book mentioned above, Hasselbalch has authored several studies, reports and articles.
