    Ann Dooms

Ann Dooms is professor at the Department of Mathematics and Data Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), where she leads the research group Digital Mathematics (DIMA). The group works on the mathematical foundations for digital data science, where Dooms is specialized in information forensics and security. She has in-depth expertise in image processing for digital painting and document analysis, with applications in the cultural heritage sector and industry, and post-quantum cryptography.

Dooms was elected as a member of the Jonge Academie and the IEEE Technical Committee in Information Forensics and Security. She has won several prizes in science communication and has a monthly column in EOS Wetenschap. She is a co-founder of a Flemish mathematics platform to promote mathematics in education, research, media and industry.

Her expertise in discrete algebra and applied functional analysis gives her the ability to tackle problems arising in the digital era from a profound mathematical view. This leads to new insights, in particular in the field of information forensics and security, with applications in data science.

At and& Leuven she will be sharing some of her latest insights in what promises to be a fascinating talk.
