Saïd El Khadraoui
Saïd El Khadraoui is the founder of Impact Lab and an independent expert and freelance adviser on sustainability transitions. He studied history and international relations at KU Leuven, and started his professional career as a Belgian diplomat, including a spell at the UN representation in New York. El Khadraoui was a municipal councilor and alderman in Leuven, cabinet employee, member of the federal parliament and member of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2014. From 2015 to 2020 he worked as a consultant for the European Commission.
He has served on the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism, and was a substitute for the Committee on International Trade. Other posts include a member of the Delegation to the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and a substitute for the Delegation for relations with the United States.
El Khadraoui is currently working as a consultant on transition guidance in the context of the fight against global warming. He is also a special advisor to FEPS, the study service of the Party of European Socialists, and a voluntary employee at the KU Leuven Institute for Government.
