Oluwafolajimi Adesanya is an Infectious Disease Research Assistant at the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT) of the University of Ibadan College of Medicine, Nigeria. His research focuses on exploring the infectious disease preparedness, detection and response strategies adopted by national public health systems to combat disease outbreaks.
Currently, in training for a medical degree at the University of Ibadan Medical School, Adesanya has extensive experience working with academic departments, civil society organizations and multilateral agencies to promote healthcare delivery in low- and middle-income settings. A particular emphasis of his work is on infection prevention and control.
A COVID-19 survivor himself, Adesanya understands that preventing a recurrence of such a deadly outbreak is crucial to public health safety and also the economic stability of the most vulnerable regions.
