What’s your view on the Green Deal, Europe’s strategy to become the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050? A beacon of environmental hope? A cauldron of political turmoil?

To explain more about the Green Deal, and& is delighted to welcome Kurt Vandenberghe to center stage. In November 2019, he joined the transition team of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen as Advisor for the Green Deal.

Before taking up his current position, Vandenberghe was Director of the Policy & Programming Centre at the European Commission's DG Research and Innovation. At the same time he was Acting Director for Research & Innovation Outreach. Before that, he was Director for Climate Action and Resource Efficiency at DG Research and Innovation.

Vandenberghe joined the European Commission in 1996 as coordinator of the Intermodal Transport Task Force and of the Transport Research Programme. Before entering the Commission, he worked as a manager at Ernst & Young Association Management, where he set up, managed and represented international trade associations. He has degrees in French and Italian literature, in Public and International Affairs, and a Master of Arts in International Relations.

Whatever your view on the Green Deal, listening to Kurt Vandenberghe at and& will surely help you to better understand this bold European response to climate change.
