    Bart De Moor

Bart De Moor is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium. He teaches numerical linear algebra, dynamical systems theory and modelling, advanced control theory, data mining and bioinformatics. He has co-published more than 400 scientific papers and contributed to ten books.

De Moor is the coordinator of numerous research projects, financed by regional, Belgian and European funding agencies, many of them with colleagues from other disciplines. These include micro-climate simulations, river basin control, industrial process control, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, oncology, gynaecology, and intensive care. His latest research is a quest for the best mathematical model, so that the results generated by that model will be reproducible time and again.

He is also scientific director of the Future Health Department of the Flanders Strategic Research Institute iMinds, which concerns software for genomics applications and clinical decision support systems. He is co-founder of six spin-off companies, four of which are still active: IPCOS (industrial process control), TML (traffic modelling and consulting), D-square (data mining in the process industry), and Cartagenia (genomics data analysis).
